onSite simplifies personnel management for security firms in the construction industry !!
Over-C has introduced onSite, a new real-time personnel management and reporting service for security firms and their clients in the construction industry. Because the application is web-based, anyone authorised and involved with managing access to a construction site can access onSite at the touch of a button. This provides construction companies with the means to control operational costs as well as a range of innovative web-based features which are practical, easy to use and add enormously to productivity. Using the same principles of real-time information reporting through NFC technology, onSite provides a range of personnel management services including the ability for security guards to scan staff ID badges on entry and exit of the site, logging location and time. onSite also enables security firms to check on the whereabouts of individuals in any given situation, such as a site evacuation. With staff already scanned into the system, onSite produces an immediate report of who is missing, and can deliver automated text messages requesting that missing personnel report to muster points to check in. Business continuity planning and cybersecurity top of mind for London businesses !!
According to AT&T research, business continuity planning is seen as a priority by 76 percent of IT executives in London. Detailed results of the AT&T 2007 Business-Continuity Study show that business- continuity planning has always been a priority for almost half (46 percent) of the companies interviewed. Nearly one-third (30 percent) indicate that business-continuity planning has become a priority in recent years because of natural disasters, security and terrorist threats. Key findings show that: ? More than eight out of 10 (83 percent) London executives indicate that their company has a business plan in place. ? The majority (72 percent) of companies have had these plans updated in the past 12 months, and more than half (52 percent) have had them tested during the same time. ? More than three out of four (79 percent) indicate that cybersecurity is part of their company's overall business-continuity plan, and a majority (51 percent) view cybersecurity as a key concern. ? Sixty-two percent of surveyed IT executives say that viruses and worms are the most significant perceived threats to cybersecurity, followed by hackers (39 percent). The types of business-continuity measures that companies have already taken in London include having implemented Internet security measures (81 percent), established backup and restor !!

Rontal Applications Ltd has announced an extension of SimGuard's crowd behavior prediction module. The new extension further enhances SimGuard's Crowd-behavior Scenarios Database (CDB) and improves the system's ability to predict crowd behavior during evacuation for planning and training purposes, as well as command and control in real time emergency situations. The system displays animated virtual crowd in a virtual evacuation, for better decision-making. The extended module enhances the ability to locate, in advance, potential bottlenecks during evacuation, when every second counts and blocked escape ways or doors can result in a catastrophe, due to human panic or disorder. The extended module calculates possible damages to pre-planned evacuation routes, due to the impact of hazardous factors, such as a bomb, fire, smoke, gas leak, etc. The organization's chief security officer (CSO) or SimGuard's operator can run any combination of crowd volume, availability of routes and parameters characterizing the nature of the specific scenario (such as average ages, people with disabilities, possible level of panic, etc.). Hybrid IP Surveillance Solution for Chinese Oil Field !!
Chang-Chin oil field belongs the enterprise that runs large-scale oil field under PetroChina Limited in Xi'an. The whole oil field and factory are controlled directly by the local Police Department, which needed stable video quality for real-time monitoring which can overcome the restrain of distance. The local Police Department off Xi-An province in China has chosen ACTi network video server, SED-2120T, as a first-stage remote monitoring solution for the oil field and factory in their district. Given the sizeof the oil field, each camera site is very far apart. 19 analoge speed domes were spread throughout the oil field, each connected to a video server, SED-2120T, which can sustain temperature form -30C~70C. The video stream and RS-485 data are first transmitted from each analogue speed dome to the video server beside, and then via LAN, all the video and data were passed on to the remote control center via the optic fiber of 1G bandwidth. SAN is located at the control center to record the video image of 19 speed domes and simultaneously distribute them via internet to different monitoring sites. The administrator at the local police station can therefore do real-time monitoring of the whole district via the network and take action immediately whenever emergency occurs. Identicom improves Wandsworth Borough Council safety procedures !!
As personnel frequently visit the homes of people claiming benefit or who are in arrears with their rent and occasionally confront potentially abusive situations, the Wandsworth Borough Council wanted to ensure that its staff had the ability to assess risk and discreetly raise an alarm if threatened. Aware of the increasing threat to its Benefit Investigation and Rent Collection Officers from verbal and physical abuse, the Revenue Service at Wandsworth Borough Council has adopted Identicom as part of SoloProtect, the fully managed, lone worker protection service from Connexion2. Previously, employees were reliant on a safety system, which relied on using a mobile phone. Conscious that if an employee found themselves in a dangerous situation and attempted to use a mobile phone to summon help, it could increase the worker's own risk and was unlikely to help capture credible audio evidence, Wandsworth Council decided to investigate alternative devices. Identified by Deborah Baker, an Officer within Benefit Investigations following a presentation of the device by the NHS at a London Boroughs Fraud Investigation Group meeting in 2006, Wandsworth Council decided to conduct a trial using Identicom, as part of the SoloProtect package which also includes SIM and inclusive airtime, user training, 24 hour manned monitoring an !!
